Awards

Since 1994, Village Bakery Café has won over 100 awards for their premium and gourmet pies, taking out several prestigious national awards and garnering the attention of high profile media.

In 2003 Village Bakery Café was awarded their first national award, taking out the place of overall winner at the 14th annual Great Aussie Pie Competition, held at Fine Foods in Sydney on 9th September 2003. The competition was fierce with more than 1450 pies from around Australia judged and scrutinised over a four-day period.

Village Bakery Café continued to further exceed expectations when they were the first ever contender to win the prestigious award twice, with the company taking out overall winner at the Great Aussie Pie Competition again in 2005. This second national success resulted in Grant Denyer from Sunrise making the trip to Dubbo in 2005 to cover this exciting win on national television.

Tim Bailey from Ten News followed suit in 2006 when Village Bakery Café were the overall runner up of the Great Aussie Pie Competition, winning 19 awards from 19 categories and missing out on the top award by 0.3 of a point.

Following their continued success in the Great Aussie Pie Competition, Village Premium Pies were also the inaugural winners of the Great Aussie Pie Contest, a national people’s choice competition with over 1700 entrants, held by popular lifestyle magazine, That’s Life in 2007. Channel Seven’s The Morning Show with Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies broadcast the announcement of the win on live television, calling Earlyrise’s head office to announce the win to John Stevenson.

In 2008 John Stevenson was invited to be the official ambassador for the That’s Life’s Great Aussie Pie Contest, promoting the competition on multiple media platforms and securing the use of Village Premium Pies in the Big Brother house when international celebrity Pamela Anderson appeared on the show.

Village Bakery Cafe have continued to exceed expectations this year, placing as the overall winner in two gourmet categories and winning eleven awards from eleven entries at the 2012 Official Great Aussie Pie Competition in Melbourne.
